First 2007 Road Trip

Joshua and I took the weekend to visit my parents in PA. It was a very nice time, but way too short. A few images from our trip:
When we go on the road, we throw most dietary restrictions out the window...and that's how Joshua ended up with this nostalgic bottle of Cherokee Red. Note below the misspelling:
Here is a picture of my parents and me when we realized that after church on Sunday, we had all independently changed into our Grove City gear. We're dorks.
Behind us, you'll see the batik that Joshua and I brought back from Uganda for them. It's pretty awesome. Being home makes me miss home. I miss my parents, and in some ways, I actually really miss the north. I miss the food in New Castle (which we ate way too much of). I miss the familiarity of home, even though lots has changed and the town is going to pots. One thing I don't miss?
Dirty winter slush. I've never had appropriate shoes for this.

It was a great weekend to relax and have fun with my parents. I wish we could've stayed longer. Now that we're back, I'm again feeling totally overwhelmed with all that's ahead of me this semester. I couldn't sleep last night because I was thinking about this project I have to do for the professor I work for. It's going to be a beast and I need to just get on with it. I'm overwhelmed thinking about how much I still have to do to prepare for my comp exam in April...it's just so much. At least I can know that after this, I will actually have a break. The summer will be nice. I'm teaching one day a week and doing my own work the rest of the days. I'm looking forward to it. For now, I just have to keep plugging away. To that end, I have to stop now. Lots to do today.

Josh's beard looks appropriate for dirty winter slush. I think his face would be well protected even if I gave him a dirty winter slush-wash (whitewash? is a face full of snow still called this? or do I just have a regional word for this?).

1) Your batik selection is impeccable. Both cool and shockingly paint appropriate. Bravo!

2) Your parents are still totally adorable. Greet them for me next time you talk. So, you know, tomorrow.

3) Hugs that crazy, cherry-soda-drinking bandit. Also, see you next weeeeek!

Jacks - I've never heard the term 'whitewash' in this context. It must be a guy thing.

E.A.P - YAAY! We can't wait!
