Holy Pork with Mushrooms, Batman!
I just ate for lunch something I wouldn't normally even eat for dinner, folks! Pork, with a mushroom and port sauce, scalloped potatoes, corn and snap peas in Creole spices, and homemade herb bread. The reason I wouldn't normally eat this is because I'm trying to be mostly vegetarian this summer (and hopefully for the rest of my life) and I'm trying to be heart healthy (hello, scalloped potatoes?!?!?!) The reason I ate it for lunch is because it was left-overs from dinner! haha! We had dinner last night with some people from church, and the chef was a wonderfully gracious retired women who made us a feast beyond all comprehension and then sent us home with the rest! OH.MAN.
Now I have to repent of eating meat and loving it. I'm trying not to do that. In other news...
Sorry that I've been a total posting slacker for the month of July. I said I wasn't going to do that. But, I would like to point out that even though my posting has been sparse, I've been generating comments like scalloped potatoes generate cholesterol...and that should count for something.
Monday is our two year anniversary, and so, tomorrow we are going here to celebrate. Totally excited. That's all I have to say today, laides and gentleman.

I saw on the news that vegetarians are 43% more likely to die from wuss-related illnesses.
Congrats on the 2 years...oh and carbs are the enemy, not meat.
King's Dominion? Nice!! Say hi to Dora the Explorer for me, and say hi to that asian chick in the bikini in the promo video for Justin. Congrats on the 2 year anniversary.

That's a great opening line for a blog post.
And in conclusion, I'd do a monthly count of the number of comments we've generated, but it's just too darn hard to go tally them all by hand.
Jack - shut it. ;o)
GMack - actually, meat is the enemy when you have a disasterous family history of heart disease and high cholesterol (and when your last cholesterol reading was 203). Meat is also the enemy when you have an ethical conviction about the way animals are treated at huge corporate farms, where most beef/pork/chicken in the grocery stores comes from. And, also, when you have a family history of diabetes, carbs are the enemy, too - especially refined carbs like pasta, white rice, etc. All of that is to say GO VEGGIE! (And eat whole grains).
Red - thanks for the anniversary wishes and the compliment on my post. :o)
yeah yeah - you rub it in enough, Lolly. ;o) I think since my lipids aren't so gorgeous, I need to be more vigilant than you. We had beef last night, and I'll be honest, it didn't do nearly as much for me as it used to and the grilled veggies on the side were so much more exciting.
Congrats to you both on two years! Ad multos annos!
Two questions...
1) What did you ride at King's Dominion? The Train?
2) So you can't have hot bacon dressing anymore? (I honestly don't think I ever ate any more of that stuff after sophomore year. It just never again looked, well...appetizing.)
Panzerkardinal -
I love wooden roller coasters, so we rode a few of those. Also, it was 100 degrees, so waterslides!!!!!!!
p.s. my word verification is: juyzojmk - which I think it the sound J. Morgan made when we rode the Grizzly. He's more scared of roller coasters than I am of hot bacon dressing.
