Vermont's Finest!

Well, I'm at my office and I should be writing a book review...but I'm not quite ready for that. So, I know you're all dying to hear about Vermont...

It was a very quick, but really lovely trip. We weren't able to get on the 3:00 flight to Burlington and the next flight wasn't until 9pm. So, we missed the whole Friday evening in VT, but it's alright. We had a nice time anyway. We got to the B&B around 11:30pm and our most gracious host, Ginger, was waiting up for us. I think Josh and I would both agree that the best part of our trip was getting to know Ginger and David. They were a very sweet older couple that run a maple sugar farm and live in the house that David's family has owned for four generations. And, Ginger makes some darn good breakfast!

We spent Saturday driving all over the place and enjoying the cold mountain air. We went to Ben and Jerry's factory (incidentally, Jerry is one of Ginger's neighbors!), ate good cheese at Cabot Creamery, drove through Smuggler's Notch...and even stopped at the Trapp Family Lodge. Saturday night, we ate dinner at perhaps the most beautiful place we have ever been - Shelbourne Farms. Words really cannot describe it. If I were a millionaire, I would buy it and never leave it for the rest of my life.

All in all, the trip was a really nice time. The cold air was invigorating, the views were beautiful, and we can't wait to go back when we have more time to spend in Burlington and time to hear more of Ginger's stories!

(and now that we're back, it's officially fall in the Ville - high today is about 53! yay!!)

Is that anything like the Von Trapp family lodge? "The hills are alive!" and all that nonsense, wot wot.

What a great getaway! I'm truly jealous of all your delicious breakfasts and Von Trapp family lodges and the like. Actually, the Von Traps wrote a book upon which the movie was based, if I recall correctly. They had WAY more troubles than those that appeared in the movie and seemed like great people. Maybe I'll have to hit up the lodge some day with my own hubster. HINT, K, HINT!

Enjoy Fall in the lovely Ville! {{Hug}}

No, it’s just Trapp... like Tocqueville. It is only “Von” or “de” when one’s first name is used. That is because it is a designator and not properly part of the family name.
