In Sum

5 Things I've Been Enjoying Lately:

1. Yogurt-covered pretzels from Whole Food's bulk aisle.
2. Charles Taylor's incredible philosophy that is revolutionizing my life as a sociologist.
3. Doing crunches on the big green ball at the gym and having my abs hurt like crazy the next day.
4. Fall weather.
5. My new jeans that I only paid $14.99 for at Marshall's.

5 Things I've Not Been Enjoying Lately:

1. Planning a totally sweet dinner that include Phyllo, but then totally forgetting that the Phyllo has to thaw for two hours...
2. Being a week and a half behind on Contemporary Theory reading.
3. That it gets dark so early.
4. Getting up at 6am to get to the gym before work.
5. Feeling like there are so many people I need to be better about staying in touch with.

6 am gym, nightma(ir)ish! Funny you mention Charles Taylor, I am just reading an article in a companion on Heidegger by him! Are you keeping in touch with Moses (foot wise)?.

Who is Charles Taylor?

Oh, I remember! I think he was number 42 on the Washington Redskins. He was pretty good in his day.

Charles Taylor is not a Washington Redskin, nor is he the Charles Taylor who committed war crimes as the president of Liberia. He is a philosopher, who taught at McGill University in Canada, but I think he's retired now. He's a Roman Catholic who writes about moral philosophy and the development of the modern identity. Very good stuff.

Happy B-day Mair. I'm pretty sure that Charles Taylor is James Taylor's lesser known singing brother. I think he's in Germany somewhere opening for David Hasselhoff.

Charles Taylor is both a philosopher and an avid footballer. Anyone remember the "Charles Taylor- Ivory Tower Linebacker" commercials a few years ago? I'm pretty sure he runs through a hallway and takes out some preppy TA in striped pants and those black framed emo glasses...
