Imagine what it must be like to live in Hollywood!
A hefty congratulations to myself (and to Joshua for being always so supportive) for another semester under my belt. The weekend was fabulous. I had no worries...slept in on Saturday, went to a Christmas party on Saturday night. Took a two hour nap on Sunday. Made baklava. It was great. (the nap and the baklava).
Today, I got my hair cut at a trendy little salon. My friend Elisa went with me...and when we walked inside I noticed a famous face sitting there. I said to Elisa, "Is that ------??" And we determined that it was. I wasn't too surprised considering that she is a long-time C-ville resident but it was cool nonetheless. She was there with her daughter who was getting her hair cut. And I'm a sissy because even though I sat down right next to her, I didn't say hello because I had never come face to face with a celebrity and didn't know if she would want to be spoken to by a stranger. Everyone else there seemed to know her. So, I just feigned utter ignorance and said nothing.
Here are some clues as to who it was;
1) She's older.
2) She's been in nearly 50 films.
3) We have the same first and middle name, but she doesn't go by either.
4) She performed her own vocals and was nominated for a grammy when she played a country music legend in a 1980 film.
Finally, there is a clue embedded in the paragraph above for anyone clever enough to get it.
Enough of that (give me a break, it's the first time I've seen a celebrity!)

Dude, I totally guessed it before I googgled! She's pretty interesting. Also, I totally wouldn't have talked to celebrities, either, even if I wasn't distracted every time I ever saw one. We're such chickens! Chickens with dignity - except on our websites.
BIG HUG and congrats on finishing the semester! Enjoy Christmas!
Hey Mair,
Did she play in Carrie? Did she play Loretta Lynn? Was she "In The Bedroom?"
Dad,
Yes, yes, and yes.
Her daughter acts also, Mair! She was in Orange County with Tom Hanks' son! Fun, huh?
I have no idea who we're talking about, or what happened in the 80's, or who any country music legends that have had films made about them are (there are legends in country music? I know there are myths - like a decent sense of pitch, or lyrics that don't suck, and songs that aren't absolute garbage).
I'm clueless. And I don't even know your middle name.
Hmm. Well, the person on IMDB who played, Carrie, Loretta Lynn, and was in "In the Bedroom", has this quote to her name:
"My cousin, Rip Torn, persuaded me not to change my name. You shouldn't change what you are in the search for success."
So that's funny, considering she doesn't go by either.
I conclusion, I had no idea who Loretta Lynn was before this.
I was just listening to The Essential Loretta Lynn today and thinking about how awesome that movie was and how spot-on she played her.
Fulllll circle.
Yow.
