Easing back into an academic year
Well, I slept in until almost 11am today. I can't even remember the last time I did that. I did it for two reasons: 1) because I didn't have to work today and I could, and 2) because of the muscle relaxer I took last night to ease the two day spasm I had been having in my neck. So, I've been up for roughly 20 glorious minutes of sitting in my pajamas and making tea.
Yesterday was my last day with Eli. It was sad and his mommy almost cried when I left. I'll still be sitting for them here and there, but she expressed that they are sad to lose me as an everyday feature of Eli's life. Apparently, they really like me. They gave me a nice gift certificate to a restaurant in town to say "thank you" for taking such good care of Eli. I think it was all topped off by the fact that Eli started walking on Wednesday and I was the one who witnessed the whole event and made him show his mommy later.
I start classes on Wednesday. I'm looking forward to it, I think. I just looked up books and for two classes I'll be spending nearly what I spent every semester in college for 4-5 classes. Yikes! I have one class that requires 12 books! Take THAT Grove City! The start of school means, hopefully, the start of more academic banter on this blog. Hopefully I can keep it a nice mix of academics and daily anecdotes. That would be nice. I'm sure there will be lots to say about my thesis work...as I'm still formulating some topics in my head. I have two that I'm really growing attached to and it's only a matter of approval and feasibility.
For now, I'm going to do enjoy my day off. I don't know what that will entail, yet, but hopefully I will be at home for most of the day. That is so enjoyable to me, especially after a summer of running around non-stop.
