I'm still breathing
Update. Two papers down - one to go. I have to go talk to my professor today about my stats paper. I don't know how to interpret my results. Terrible, I know; but I've never done logistic regression before. Hopefully I will finish the stats paper today (which would rock my world). Then, tomorrow I can start cracking on my lovely little take-home final, which consists of about 4 essays and a weird fill-in-the-blank question. I've actually felt quite calm through all of this craziness, much more so that I did at the end of last semester. Joshua has been wonderful (as always) at keeping in balanced and helping as much as possible. He is the best editor in the world, and also a great sounding board for me when I don't know where I'm going in a paper. He's also pretty good at helping me try to figure out logistic regression (even though he doesn't know anything about it - he's smart and helpful.)
Two pieces of good news:
1) The department has renewed my TA for next year. I'm so happy I don't have to pay anymore tuition. The first semester was bad enough.
2) I got my faculty review in the mail. (At the end of every year, the faculty sit around and gab about us.) They like me. They think I'm a good writer and have a "professional attitude". (Probably because I'm not running around causing ruckus with the radicals!) Anyway, it was encouraging.
Finally, I am happy to report that it is going to be 80 degrees in Charlottesville today. So, all things considered, my life is going well. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and can't wait to get there.

BRAVO! I'm so glad you've been managing to stay sane through the pressure. Oh, and congrats on the TA renewal and faculty approval! Even if your time at UVA hasn't been the best for you, at least you're having a few successes amid the frustration. Hopefully you can enjoy a relaxing summer and be refreshed for Year 2. Can you say weekend visit? I can! :-D
Mair-
Hey, this is Uhle! I like your blog site, although I don't know much about them. I was going to leave a message on Nick's, but I didn't want to say "hi!" when everyone was giving political commentary. Neat though and it was cool to ready your postings. Cheers and see you soon!
