Another interesting thing. I went into my office today, which I seldom do, and one of my office mates who I've had maybe 4 conversations with greeted me with "Hello Miss Mary." Now - everyone seems to naturally call me this. Seriously. My acupuncturist used to call me this. My mother calls me this. Other people's mothers call me this. Friends, acquaintences, doctors, strangers, people I've just met. Miss Mary seems to be my unavoidable nickname. Not that I mind, by the way. So, anyway, I laughed and told Tristan that everyone seems inclined to call me Miss Mary, then he told me about his ethnography of "really big men." Oh, Sociology, how I love you.
