Longing for Summer

The past two days have been lovely - just the way Charlottesville was meant to be. It was 65 degrees yesterday, and 62 today. The sun was shining brightly. Yesterday, Josh and I took a drive out in the country - we were hunting for one of my professors houses. This prof had a bunch of us over for dinner/class last semester and his house was stunning, so I wanted Josh to see it. Surprisingly, I found it! Even though last time it was dark, AND I didn't drive, AND it was 20 minutes away!! So, my navigation skills aren't so bad, afterall. Anyway, on the way we passed some Virginia specials - Foxfield Polo Grounds, the site of the original Michie Tavern (built in 1735, or somewhere around there), a HUGE vineyard with really old, beautiful vines...so many rolling hills and the mountains looming in dusky blue glory over the horizon. It was a gorgeous day. Afterward, we had dinner with some friends, and Elisa made this lovely fresh spinach leaf, strawberry and pecan salad that made me wish tomorrow was summer! I can't wait for the City Market to open - so I can buy recidulously cheap, locally grown produce. Soon enough, I suppose.
