beautiful things

Wednesdays are my longest days. I loathe them. But, all in all, today turned out beautifully.
1) I mustered up the motivation to go down to the Geostat center and get a staff member to begin a search for a dataset I need for two papers this semester. So, I feel like I'm making progress there. In addition, I was inspired for a topic for my third paper, and the feeling of progress is beautiful.
2) My husband made the most wonderful chicken for dinner. In case anyone wants to try it, he baked chicken breasts topped with salsa and mozzerella cheese. I made fresh, sauteed green beans as a side. Dinner was beautiful.
3) We went to church tonight and I experienced my first ever Tenebrae service. Being new to the Episcopal tradition, I am really enjoying getting familiar with some of the oldest traditions of the faith and tonights service was no exception. The music was calming and I was impressed all over again with the mystery of the gospel as the service took us through the Old Testament passages foretelling the life of Christ. The service is designed to take the worshipper through the darkness that surrounds the last few days of Christ's life on earth. It was a very beautiful service.
4) Now I'm enjoying the beautiful smell of brownies in my oven and the company of my cat, who is lying on the desk next to me with his face burried in my arm.
So, today is drawing to a beautiful close.
